Coronation Street’s Faye Brookes hints Sophie Webster might be her new on-screen love interest… as Gareth Gates reveals his plans to propose
The actress is known for playing Kate Connor in the soap opera - and now she may see sparks fly with another regular
CORONATION Street star Faye Brookes has hinted that her character Kate Connor may soon find love - as she considers taking her relationship with Gareth Gates to the next level off-screen.
The 29-year-old actress, who has been on the show since October 2015, gave fans a glimpse of what to expect in upcoming episodes and revealed her hopes that Kate might see love blossom with Sophie Webster, played by Brooke Vincent.
Speaking to , she said: "I hope she gets a new love interest. That's definitely something I've tried to put out there.
"It might be Sophie in the future. I think she's just going to get more embedded into Weatherfield."
In the meantime, Gareth has been keeping Faye loved up and happy at home - and the pair both admitted that they think they've found 'the One'.
On proposing to his girlfriend of four years, Gareth said: "We've definitely founnd the person we want to spend our lives with, it's just about getting the timing right.
"Faye's not been in Coronation Street long, and I don't want to be touring at the same time as having a family life."
The pair first met after performing together in a stage production of Legally Blonde: The Musical in 2012 - with Faye playing the lead Elle Woods and Gareth playing her no-good boyfriend Warner Huntington III.
At the time, Gareth was married to Suzanne Mole, but the pair split and ten months after their tour ended, the pair got together in real life.

Following picking up the Best Newcomer award at the National Television Awards this year, Faye repeated her hopes for romance for Kate at some point this year to TV host Lorraine Kelly.
She said: "I like the idea for the character if there was always something there (with Sophie).
"It teases the audience. I do think she has a soft spot for Sophie."
Speaking exclusively to The Sun at Wednesday night's NTAs she gave a further hint there could be more to come in their love life and added: “I hope Kate and Sophie have a romance.
"Sophie is Kate’s Achilles heel. It’s a beautiful connection they have. But whether they will ever be more than friends, or not, you never know.”
Meanwhile, Gareth has signed up to become a part of a 90s and 00s supergroup with 5ive's Ritchie Neville, Blue's Duncan James, Phats and Smalls Ben Ofoedu and S Club's Jon Lee.
Calling themselves Boyz Allowed, the five lads are dressing up as Girls Aloud and performing their hit Biology in aid of Comic Relief in March.
A source exclusively revealed to The Sun: “This is a Nineties pop fan’s dream come true.
“With five of the most memorable British popstars from the last two decades together it’s going to be a proper nostalgia trip.
“The Girls Aloud cover will be great entertainment but hopefully it’s not their only performance. Imagine how fun it would be if they stuck together for a full tour.”
Gareth previously joined another supergroup as part of The Big Reunion on ITV - joining Dane Bowers, Adam Rickett, Kavana and Kenzie from Blazing Squad for an arena tour in 2013.
He said: “This time I’m dressing up as a woman. It’s going to be a fantastic performance, I can’t wait to get those high heels on and raise loads of money for such a fantastic cause.”
