claims a BBC insider told them: "He is on a short break. He will be back long before the summer."

The actor's current contract runs until October, meaning he could just have a handful of months left if he chooses to leave the soap as he has hinted he will do.

A BBC source told The Sun Online that the break will be for a matter of weeks, not months.

It comes as The Sun exclusively revealed a bombshell behind-the-scenes feud between Danny and EastEnders' Mitchell brothers.

He and Steve McFadden, who plays Phil, have been engaging in a behind-the-scenes feud that has divided the cast.

The Sun can also reveal that Dyer has had a go at Ross Kemp, who plays Phil’s sibling Grant.
