How former wife of TV host Jeremy Kyle was betrayed by her 'best friend' who worked with the family for nine years
JEREMY KYLE’S ex-wife believes her kids’ nanny and her own former best friend deliberately stole her look and style – before going on to steal the TV host.
Carla Germaine has told friends that Jeremy’s lover Vicky Burton “morphed” into being a near-lookalike during her nine years working for the family.
Betrayed Carla, who was married to Jeremy for 13 years and has three children with him, claims the younger woman copied her clothes, hair- style and sometimes even her POSES.
Vicky began dating Jeremy just over a year after he had split from Carla, who had considered the nanny to be “like a sister”.
But friends of the 41-year-old told how she has now thrown out all her pictures of her former friend — and in doing so spotted Vicky’s evolving look.
The nanny’s clothing became more similar to her own, the brunette lightened her hair to match blonde Carla’s and her poses were even mirrored.
One close friend told The Sun on Sunday: “Carla realises now how during their friendship Vicky gradually morphed into looking like her, copying her clothes and style.
“Carla liked to wear skinny jeans with turn-ups and halter-neck tops, and Vicky would always pick out similar things.
“In pictures, if Carla’s hair was up, so was Vicky’s. If it was down, so was Vicky’s.
“Carla was completely oblivious at the time, but looking back now she can see that there was a definite transformation going on.”
Jeremy, 51, has been with Vicky, 35, for three months but the relationship was only revealed last month.
Vicky stopped working for the family last April.
Their romantic break came three years after Vicky holidayed at the same destination with Jeremy, Carla and kids Alice, now 12, Ava, 11, and seven-year-old Henry.
They also all holidayed together to other destinations including Disney World in Florida — and were all extremely close.
The friend said: “Carla and Vicky were so close, they were like sisters. The two of them shared so many good times.
“But now Carla can’t bear to look at Vicky.
"She has gone through the house taking down all the pictures of Vicky with her children because she finds them so upsetting.
"It is all too raw for her and the children. There were lots in every room, including pictures taken in Barbados, where Jeremy was pictured on holiday with Vicky recently.
“Carla’s also going through her Facebook and social media to delete the images.
“She still feels so angry about what has happened.
"She and Vicky were best mates for ten years.”
Jeremy and Carla, who wed in 2002, announced that they were splitting up in September 2015.
The presenter said in a statement at the time: “After 13 years of a generally happy marriage, my wife Carla and I have separated amicably.
“We have sadly grown apart over recent years and have been living apart since earlier this summer.”
But Jeremy insisted the couple planned to give their three kids a stable upbringing in “inevitably upsetting circumstances”.
Carla insists that she and Jeremy were already separated at the time.
Her pal said: “Carla feels she has been made out to be the scapegoat in all of this, and that it was her fault her marriage to Jeremy broke down because of the fling.
"But Carla insists it only happened after she and Jeremy separated.”
The couple were granted a decree nisi in a 20-second hearing last February after Carla petitioned for divorce on the grounds of Jeremy’s “unreasonable behaviour”.
Six weeks later, their divorce was finalised — shortly before Vicky stopped working for the family.
Since her departure, Carla has not hired another nanny, and instead has poured all of her energy into looking after her three children.
And her friend told how her former pal’s betrayal has put Carla off hiring a replacement for good.
The source said: “For the time being Carla’s only focus is on the welfare of her kids.
“She has been looking after them on her own since Vicky left nine months ago.
“She has no intention of hiring another nanny after what happened. I mean, what mum would?”
Carla was Jeremy’s second wife.
His first marriage to Kirsty Rowley, mum to his eldest daughter Harriet, 27, collapsed in 1990 after one year.
Their split followed a series of furious arguments.
Kirsty later told how he spun a web of intricate lies in an attempt to cover up his gambling habit.
And in his 2009 autobiography Jeremy admitted: “Gambling is the mistress that truly seduced me.
“I will never understand what a hit of heroin feels like, but gambling I get.”
Jeremy met Carla in 1999, when the model, then 23, entered a competition being run by the Birmingham radio station he worked for.
The prize in the contest, Two Strangers And A Wedding, was to marry a total stranger.
Carla was chosen by listeners as the winning bride and sales manager Greg Cordell, 28, was selected as the groom.
They married amid huge publicity but three months later the relationship was over and Carla began dating Jeremy.
She supported him when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer at Christmas in 2012, and throughout his gruelling treatment.
The host, who has since been given the all-clear, later paid tribute to Carla’s unwavering support during his illness.
When approached at her Berkshire home, Carla did not comment.
Jeremy did not respond to requests for a comment last night.

THERE is no doubt that many men have a certain type of woman they go for.
In fact all the jokes about trading in the current wife for the newer model have a foundation if you move in a world where middle-aged males have fortunes to tempt beautiful women half their age to their side.
And the role of the nanny in wealthy households can be a recipe for envy.
In bygone days the nanny in upper-class homes was usually an elderly woman who had nannied the head of the household when he was a child – so was no threat to his wife.
These days nannies can be aspirational young women who would like nothing more than to enjoy the role occupied by their employer – the wife, at least.
Vicky’s copying of Carla’s style may well have been a compliment at first, demonstrating that she saw her employer as a stylish woman, but with the subtext that she envied her lifestyle.
Vicky may well have been one of the first to pick up on tensions in the Kyles’ marriage.
And she may not have deliberately set out to seduce Jeremy but it’s hardly surprising that she began styling her look in a way that she – subconsciously perhaps – knew would appeal to him.
Jeremy leads a driven life focused on his show, and with few opportunities to make fresh friends he can be sure will protect his confidentiality. No wonder Vicky’s arms have seemed welcoming.
