VICKY Pattison has claimed that losing weight helped give her career a major boost.

The reality TV star has shed four stone since she quit Geordie Shore and has gone on to star in and win I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, present the spin-off show and appear as a regular panellist on Loose Women.

And she said that losing all the weight helped her become a household name.

Speaking to the Daily Star on Sunday’s TV Life, she said she really piled on the pounds during her time on Geordie Shore, which first aired in 2011.

And she said as the popularity of the show grew, so did her waistline.

She said: “I was eating McDonald’s breakfasts then every night I was drinking Jägerbombs, vodka Red Bulls and eating kebabs.”

Vicky, 29, quit the show in 2014 and decided it was time to start getting fit and healthy.

She said: “When you’re overweight and unhappy, you’re not living the way you want to live.

“You avoid places you don’t feel confident in, you don’t buy new clothes and heaven forbid you have a nice holiday.”

Vicky changed her diet and hit the gym and soon the weight began to drop off and she went from 12st 7lbs to 8st 7lbs.

And she added: “I felt so much healthier and a lot of doors opened for me. It was the turning point for my career. Everyone loves a transformation piece and an underdog story and I suppose that’s what I was.

“I’d been unhealthy, in an unhappy relationship which viewers had seen play out on Geordie Shore and I’d lost a lot of my personality and confidence. I’d gone from the feisty girl that people loved to a downtrodden ex-girlfriend. Finding a focus in fitness and losing weight gave me my sass back.”
