It's been branded one of the scariest horror films of all time - as the the evil spirit of a child killer returns for revenge, after he was killed by his victims' parents.
Teenager Nancy Thompson must uncover the dark truth hidden by her parents after she and her friends become targets of the spirit - known for his bladed glove in their dreams.
Krueger goes on to murder his victims in their dreams, causing their deaths in the real world as well.
The film franchise, created by Wes Craven in 1984, has been a hit with horror buffs and continues to frighten fans over the last 40 years.

JOHN SAXON - LT. DONALD 'DON' THOMPSON
The actor and martial artist was best known for his work in westerns, action films and horror movies.
He played Lt. Thompson in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street and in 1987’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 3.
John’s onscreen career began in the mid-1950s with a couple of uncredited roles, as well as a guest-starring episode of TV series Medic and a few crime-dramas, including Running Wild and The Unguarded Moment.
His most recent project was the 2017 comedy The Extra, which centered on a bad boy movie star who decided to work as a film extra as a prank.

The terrifying villain haunted her dreams, slashing her nightwear with his sharp claws during one nightmare, before finishing her off as she dozed at her own sleepover.
Now 63, American actress Amanda has barely aged a day from those frightful early years on screen.
But that's not to say she's forgotten about her time in the slasher flick. Just weeks ago she reunited with the rest of the cast - including Freddie actor Robert Englund - to celebrate its milestone anniversary.
And she's also a regular on the Comic Con circuit, with the film maintaining a massive fanbase.
Back in 2018, she discussed its enduring legacy though admitted she's only seen it once or twice.
She told : "I’ve only seen the film once or twice, because I don’t usually watch myself that often, but filming it was a really interesting experience and we knew we were making a really interesting piece of film.
"That death scene is on the 100 greatest movie deaths of all time. It’s been on the Academy Awards twice, it’s been used in movies and TV shows constantly, so I feel really lucky how it’s turned out to be and I’m totally grateful for it!"

Robert is an actor and director who is best known for his role as the serial killer, Freddy Krueger, in the Nightmare on Elm Street film series.
He has also starred in films such as Stay Hungry, A Star Is Born, Buster and Billie, and Big Wednesday.
Robert landed a similar terrifying role as Victor Creel in Stranger Things Season 4.
In an interview with IGN, Matt and Ross Duffer, who are the creators, writers, and directors of the show granted an interview with IGN, expressing their excitement at having Robert Englund play the role of Victor Creel.
In the interview, Matt Duffer : “The fact that he came to us in a season that’s so deeply inspired by the Nightmare series and by his performance, especially in those movies, it felt like fate. It felt like, okay, this is meant to be."

Ronee released her 2009 album, River Nile, following a trip to Egypt and went on to star and direct 2012 film Of One Blood with her daughter.
