Coronation Street stars Shayne Ward and Catherine Tyldesley set to star in ‘explosive’ storyline this summer when Maria Connor is released from jail as they sign new contracts for another 12 months
The on screen soap lovers have signed a new deal to stay on the cobbles for another year

CORONATION Street stars Shayne Ward and Catherine Tyldesley have signed new deals to stay on the Cobbles.
The actors have become central to gritty storylines as lovers Aidan O’Connor and Eva Price and now bosses have acted quickly to ensure their time on the ITV soap in extended for a further 12 months.
A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “Aidan and Eva have been top value on Corrie and they've quickly made themselves one of the soap's power couples.
“Producers took a chance on Shayne when they hired him for the gig but it’s one of the best decisions they could have made.
“Shayne and Catherine are firm friends off set and the cast are delighted they're remaining on board."
The former X Factor winner joined Coronation Street in August 2015 and went on to win an NTA for Best Newcomer and an Inside Soap Award.
Meanwhile, Catherine made her debut on the soap in 2011 when her on-screen mum Stella Price, played by Michelle Collins, became bar manager of The Rovers Return.
Viewers have recently been glued to TV screens over Aidan’s affair with Maria Connor—who is currently serving time in jail for illegally marrying Pablo Duarte.
But fireworks are set to explode this summer when Maria is released from jail after just two months, as exclusively revealed by The Sun’s Bizarre TV column.
Earlier this month Bizarre revealed Shayne’s blossoming off screen friendship with co-star Catherine.

The former X Factor winner has found a niche entertaining her one-year-old son Alfie and now more of the soap’s cast want to sign him up.
Catherine Tyldesley revealed: “Alfie is a little obsessed with Shayne singing. So over Christmas, we hired Shayne to come and do some private concerts for him. My Alfie really does love him – he’s like a little groupie.
“Every time we’re in the car, he says, ‘Shayne, Shayne,’ so I have to play his album so he will fall asleep. When he first met Shayne, he was awestruck.
“Shayne just held onto his hand and sang to him, and Alfie just stared back mesmerised.
“He’s amazing with kids. Some of the other Corrie cast are actually going to hire him to do the same.
"Kids are just fascinated by his singing. We’ll have to start calling him Daddy Day Care soon.”
Catherine Tyldesley welcomed son Alfie with personal trainer fiancé Tom Pitfield in March 2015.
The news of Shayne’s foray into nursery rhymes follows his return to music as exclusively revealed by The Sun’s Bizarre column.
A source said: “Shayne can’t wait to start recording his tracks and show the nation was he’s got up his sleeve.
“He has chatted to his Coronation Street co-stars about the music and they are all fully behind him.
“This will in no way impact his Coronation Street commitments and he’s certain he can juggle both.”
