'give it up for lent'

Viewers slam David Walliams and The Nightly Show AGAIN and claim Kim Cattrall ‘saved’ the episode

ITV's new night-time talk show received a panning for the second consecutive evening

PANCAKE-STUFFED telly fans have vowed to "give up" David Walliams' The Nightly Show for Lent as they panned ITV'S new programme for the second night in a row.

Frustrated viewers took to Twitter to claim the talk show's saving grace came in the form of stunning Sex and the City Actress Kim Cattrall who they hailed as its "saviour."

In actions repeating those of last night, those watching swiftly took to Twitter to slate the 30-minute episode fronted by the Little Britain star, with one witty viewer posting: "For Lent should give up The Nightly Show."

Another moaned: "Oh David what have you signed up for? I'm watching it out of disbelief.

"Terrible crap."

A third simply posted: "What a load of rubbish," while another added: "Slaughtered the 10 o'clock slot..! Bring back the News Please. Won't be tuning in again."

A witty TV fan quipped: "Presumably ITV want us to go to bed earlier."

Yet show fans were much more complimentary about sassy Liverpudlian lass Kim.

She had them in stitches after revealing her love for traditional Scouse stew before playing a quiz game with some of her most loyal fans.

Flooding Twitter with a wave of positive comments one fan put: "How beautiful is !! Pity she is in such a rubbish show!! ."

Another agreed and put: "Just watching the ' Nightly Show'...you outshine DW in your sincerity!

"The best part was kim cattrall."

Last night fans were also less than complimentary about ITV's new show - which will feature a different guest host each week.

It made its debut last night with comedian David Walliams as its very first guest presenter.

The Britain’s Got Talent judges cracked jokes and chatted to guests Martin Clunes and Nina Conti, and even gave one lucky audience member a couple of free tickets to Los Angeles.

But viewers at home were left disappointed by the new programme and took to Twitter to complain and call for the News at Ten to be put back.

One wrote: “Never mind the Oscars - whoever made the mistake of putting #thenightlyshow on @ITV at 10pm instead of @itvnews should be sacked! Epic fail!”

Another added: “I applaud ITV's ambition re: #thenightlyshow but moving News At Ten around has never worked out. You'd think they'd learned that by now.”
