Katy Perry debuts dramatic new hairstyle as she vows to stay friends with ‘former lover’ Orlando Bloom following their split

KATY Perry debuted a dramatic new hairstyle on Thursday following her split from Orlando Bloom.

The pair called it quits earlier this week after a video emerged of the lord Of The Rings actor getting close to another woman at a swanky party in LA.

While the couple released a statement saying they are "taking respectful, loving space at this time", Katy looks like she's following the mantra of "washing that man out of your hair" with the dramatic new hairstyle.

She was pictured at the Vanity Fair Oscars party on Sunday wearing her hair in a slick long bob.

Taking to Instagram, Katy posted a Boomerang video of her brand new 'do of a platinum coloured pixie cut with a long fringe.

Putting on a sultry pout for the camera as her hairdresser flicks her hair back and forth, Katy captioned the clip: "✂️cash me outside howbow dah✂️ S/O @mrchrismcmillan and @justinandersoncolor & @riderdyehair for that platinum status ��🏼💅🏻".

The Dark Horse singer also took to Twitter to say the 'former lovers' are still friends.

She wrote: " HOW BOUT A NEW WAY OF THINKING FOR 2017⁉️U can still b friends & love ur former partners! No one's a victim or a villain, get a life y'all!😘".

Katy and Orlando called time on their year-long relationship just hours after attending an Oscars bash together when she became aware of a video showing him “all over” another woman.

Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando was filmed looking flirty with the daughter of a charity president in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Katy was 5,500 miles away singing at the Brit Awards in London.

Bloom was seen kissing Erin McCabe on the cheek when they met and placing a hand on her knee.

She stroked his ear before they headed to a private area and seemingly left the bash at the same time.

Canterbury-born Orlando, 40, and US star Katy, 32, met in January last year.

They made headlines when he stripped naked on a paddleboard with her in Italy in September.

But they appeared to hit the rocks when his representatives were this week asked to comment on footage of him and Erin last Wednesday.

Another partygoer at the Global Green Gala do told The Sun: “Their relationship immediately struck me as far too familiar.

"I instantly thought if I was Katy I wouldn’t be happy with my boyfriend behaving like that with another woman.

“When Orlando arrived he gave Erin a kiss on each cheek and she moved her table placing so she could sit next to him.

“He was rubbing her back all night and even had his hand on her knee at one point.”

Over here, Katy spent the Brits after-party liking unsuspecting fans’ tweets about the couple’s relationship.

She returned to LA the next evening.

A friend said: “Katy and Orlando were behaving like a couple in the days up to the Oscars.

“They were spending time together and posting supportive messages on each other’s social media.

Orlando posted a selfie with Katy’s dog Butters on Monday with the caption ‘mighty heart’ which is a nickname they use.

“They often call each other ‘mighty man’ and ‘mighty heart’.”

The mate added: “This has really shocked people as they seemed so besotted with one another. There was no sign of a break-up.”

The pair appeared together on Sunday night at the Vanity Fair Oscars party.

One US source claimed they had already split but the friend said: “They hung out and again seemed like a couple, queueing up for portrait photos together and posing for pics.

“Orlando was with Katy and her dog all of Monday. That’s not the behaviour of a recently broken-up couple. Their split threw everyone because of how sudden it was.

“On Tuesday night Orlando and Katy’s teams received calls about the video, and just hours later a joint split statement was rushed out.

“People are naturally thinking there might be more to this video of Orlando and Erin than first meets the eye.

"They are keeping things close to their chest at the moment.

"But it seems Orlando’s team panicked at any suggestions of wrongdoing on his part and raced the statement out.

"Katy’s team played along so she wouldn’t look like she was a victim during a huge time for her career.”

The statement said: “Before rumours or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.”

The stars spent much of the last year travelling the world together.

In November they were rumoured to have got engaged after Katy — whose comeback single Chained to the Rhythm is currently No 5 — was seen wearing a huge diamond ring.

At Christmas they dressed as Mr and Mrs Claus to visit children’s hospitals before celebrating the New Year together in Tokyo.

Last night a source close to Lord of the Rings actor Orlando insisted there was “nothing romantic” between him and Erin.

The insider said: “She is the daughter of Les McCabe, the CEO of Global Green — which is an organisation that Orlando has supported and been involved with for years.

"He was on the committee for the event and presented an award.

“Orlando and Erin were seated at a table together with Erin’s father Les and they were having friendly conversation. There’s nothing romantic happening with Erin.”
