ANT Middleton revealed he left his heavily pregnant wife at home to take part in his gruelling new show Mutiny.

The former SAS man spent two months at sea on an intense 4,000 mile expedition while his expectant wife was left hoping he would arrive safe and sound for the arrival of their child.

Speaking to This Morning hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, Ant explained: "My wife was heavily pregnant - six months pregnant - and I actually came back on her due date."

He revealed: "When the project came up, I looked at her like an excited kid and she was just like, 'Go on, go have some fun'.

"It was very much a mutual decision."

Ant, who is fronting the new groundbreaking Channel 4 programme, admitted that he didn't let his thoughts get too dark while on the dangerous expedition.

He stated: "I tried not to think I wouldn't make it. I didn't let that enter my mind. I just did my best to lead.

"We kept it all very authentic, right down to the clothing. We didn't have modern waterproofs, just cotton clothing and the same equipment."

Ant, who made his name as the lead instructor of Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins, captains a group of nine men to recreate one of the greatest survival feats in British history made in 1789 by lieutenant Willliam Bligh.
