James Arthur begs X Factor pal Jahmene Douglas to call him after he says ‘I’m ready to die’ and shares worrying suicidal thoughts on Twitter
JAMES Arthur has shown his support for fellow X Factor star Jahmene Douglas, after Jahmene revealed his battle with depression in a troubling Twitter post.
Jahmene opened up about the depths of his battle with depression on Thursday night when he shared a long post describing his mental state, titled: "This is me..."
The soul and gospel singer, who lost out to James in the ninth series of The X Factor, admitted to fans that he had "suicidal thoughts" and was feeling "broken, lost and worthless".
James responded with the tweet: "Brother I'm here for you. Answer your phone. I know what you're going through. Pick up."
Jahmene, 25, immediately sparked concern with his post as he shared with fans: "I don’t know what to do any more.
"My mind is plagued with suicidal thoughts whenever my defences are down."
He continued: "I feel so broken, lost and worthless. It doesn't seem to matter how much I try to fix myself, who I talk to or what I put in place it always comes back to this."
He finished ended the long note writing: "All I am ever left with is the desire to die. I don’t want it, but I do. That’s the inner battle. I’m scared the next time I try I will succeed because I have nothing in place any more."
Fan flocked to Twitter to share their love and support for the singer stating that he was not alone and should stay strong.
Jahmene and his mother Mandy both spoke about the horrific domestic violence they endured while Jahmene was a child, and the singer praised his mother for writing a book about the experience.

James has previously been open about his own struggle with depression and revealed how it affected his career during a recent interview on This Morning.
He explained: "I've suffered with depression and I'm an anxious character. Even before the X Factor I was self-medicating quite a bit to just to get myself through the day.
"When I was on the show, everything happened so quickly and I just wasn't prepared for the level of attention and scurrility that came with it."
He stated: "The whole thing was so bizarre and I didn't now how to deal with it. So I pressed the self-destruct button and it's as simple as that."
