Sinead Tinker's alter-ego is dating her former co-star's ex-boyfriend just months after they split

CORONATION Street star Katie McGlynn is growing close to Giovanni Pernice.

The cobbles favourite - who plays knicker stitcher Sinead Tinker in the ITV soap -  enjoyed a romantic weekend with the Strictly Come Dancing hunk just seven months after he split from her former co-star Georgia May Foote.

: "They went for dinner and the cinema, and had a night partying with some of his pals in London. There was a lot of chemistry between them.

"They really like each other and there's huge attraction there, but it's early days."

The insider added: "Both are also conscious that Giovanni dated Georgia making things a little awkward too."

While Katie's love life off-screen is blooming, her on-screen love life has become complicated as her character Sinead has just discovered she's pregnant.

Sinead recently got together with Daniel Osbourne after cheating with him on her ex-boyfriend Chesney Brown.

In a life-imitating art twist, both actress' Corrie characters dated Chesney, with Georgia May Foote's Katy splitting with him before he moved on with Sinead.

Giovanni dated Georgia for nine months after they partnered up for the 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

But they split last August with Georgia announcing the split on Twitter.

"It is with great sadness we have decided to split up," she wrote.

"There is nobody else involved. Although it was not an easy decision to make, sometimes you realise that it is better to be friends, and this is one of those times.

"We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects, and we wish each other well for the future."
