Emma Watson hits back at criticism over her topless Vanity Fair shoot
The stunning actress has slammed criticism over her shoot, after she was branded 'anti-feminist'
EMMA Watson has hit back at criticism over her stunning topless Vanity Fair shoot, insisting her “t*ts” have nothing to do with feminism.
However, while many fans applauded the shoot, others hit out at the snaps and even claimed they were “anti-feminist”.
Now the 26-year-old star has addressed the comments, and insisted the photos have nothing to do with her ongoing campaigns for feminism.
She said in a BBC interview: “Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with (sic).
“It’s about freedom. It’s about liberation. It’s about equality.
“I really don’t know what my t*ts have to do with it. It’s very confusing. I’m confused. Most people are confused. I’m always just kind of quietly stunned.”
As her co-star Dan Stevens asked her about the comments, Emma replied: “They were saying that I couldn’t be a feminist and… and have boobs.”
Emma also revealed she was “surprised” when she first saw the photo of herself on the cover of the mag.
“I was honestly slightly taken aback by it because it sort of hadn’t – you know – we’d been doing so many crazy things on that shoot but it had really felt incredibly artistic and I’d been so creatively involved and engaged with Tim [Walker] and I was so thrilled with how interesting and beautiful the photographs were.”
It comes after broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer tweeted her criticism over the photos of Emma, writing: “Emma Watson: ‘Feminism, feminism… gender wage gap… why oh why am I not taken seriously… feminism… oh, and here are my t–s!”
More critics branded the shoot “anti-feminist”, despite others sharing their praise for the photos.
