Dad of Britain’s Got Talent dancer from Stavros Flatley reveals he’s ‘devastated’ by son’s arrest over ‘cannabis factory’ and vows to prove his innocence
Demetri says his son, Lagi, is innocent
THE father of disgraced Stavros Flatley star Michalakis 'Lagi' Demetriou has expressed his devastation at his son’s arrest in connection to a drugs farm.
The 20-year-old younger half of Britain’s Got Talent act Stavros Flatley was busted after police found marijuana plants worth an estimated £56,000 in a North London flat owned by the comedy dancer.
But distraught dad Demetri has hit out at the reports his son was involved with the drug-growing activities and insists he is innocent.
"The family are so upset, not with Lagi, we know he has nothing to do with this, but with the accusations,” dad Demetri, 53, said.

Demetri and Lagi wowed the UK back in 2009 when they starred on series three of Britain’s Got Talent as belly dancing comedy act Stavros Flatley.
The duo missed out on winning the ITV talent show – finishing third behind winners Diversity and runner up Susan Boyle.
However they enjoyed continued success following their appearance and landed a role on The Royal Variety Show in 2012.
On Monday, Lagi made headlines after he was arrested following a police swoop on a home in Enfield, London, where 460 cannabis plants were discovered.
The dance-partner dad wept after learning of his lad’s arrest.
One pal of 20-year-old Lagi said of dad Demetri, 54: “He burst out crying when he heard.
“Demetri’s 100 per cent against drugs and will be furious about this.”
Friends say Lagi used the money he made from his TV fame to buy the £295,000 top-floor two-bed apartment where the cannabis plants were allegedly found.
It is understood the pad, near the family home in Enfield, North London, was bought last year as an investment.
The friend said officers found large amounts of a concentrated form of cannabis, known as “shatter” or “wax”.
The pal added: “Police found about £50,000 worth in there.
"Lagi doesn’t live there, he lives around the corner in another flat.
"He has told the police that his mate was a tenant there.
“He said he doesn’t know anything about the cannabis-growing operation.
"Lagi works as a barber when he’s not dancing with his dad.
"He and his dad own about three or four properties around Enfield.”
Lagi is believed never to have lived at the apartment and there has been no one registered there since 2013.
