GMB fans tell Piers Morgan off for messaging Emma Watson in Twitter spat live on GMB before slamming him for critising her ‘topless’ photoshoot
Viewers urged the opinionated host to concentrate on presenting - before criticising his opinions on the actress' feminist stance
GOOD Morning Britain viewers were left infuriated when Piers Morgan was caught tapping away on his phone live on the show before becoming further enraged when he revealed he was engaged in a Twitter spat with Emma Watson about Feminism and her revealing Vanity Fair photoshoot.
Piers, 51, claimed the Harry Potter star and vocal Feminist was “having her cake and eating it” by previously criticising popstar Beyonce’s saucy images – yet three years later posing for some of her own – and had decided to respond to her in a commercial break.
Yet unfortunately he overran and the camera panned to Piers focusing on his on his mobile when today’s programme re-started.
Co-presenter Susanna Reid was quick to point out his actions as he popped it on the sofa with the screen glowing, prompting a barrage of angry comments from viewers.
Piers wrote to Emma: “OK. So do you still feel ‘conflicted’ about Beyoncé’s use of sexy videos to promote her feminism?”
One ranted: “Is Piers Morgan ever off his phone? I’d have mi hands cut off if I had mine out at work,” while another put: “ stop tweeting when your in work.”
Another gave him a telling off and put: “ your on air no tweeting,” while a fourth
put: “ get off that telephone Piers for gawds sake.”
A former show fan rounded off with: “Watching play with his mobile phone isn’t entertainment I’m off to watch the .”
Yet it was his comments about Beauty and the Beast’s leading lady Emma which sparked yet more fury.
Piers insisted her Vanity Fair images, which showed her wearing a crochet cardi over her shoulders and little else, were “topless” and provided a conflict with her feminist views.
He said: “It doesn’t help and looks like having her cake and eating it.
“I’m not sure that she can do what she likes and define that as feminism, and say Beonce is not entitled to define her Feminism.
“For us guys we are trying to wrestle with Feminism and what Feminism is.”
They prompted yet another outburst from fans on social media.
One quizzed: “Why are and ‘us guys’ struggling to understand feminism? You don’t have to be female to be a feminist you lemon.”
Another added: “ what Emma Watson wears/does is nobody’s business. Modern feminism is about freedom and equality, leave her alone.”
Later Piers continued to defend his position and said there was a confilct between Emma classing herself as Feminist and criticising Bey, before doing something similar, and added: “She’s doing it deliberately to sell a Disney film aimed at kids.
“I’m not sure this is a smart way for Emma Watson to be spending her time.”
Emma has hit back at critics of her new photoshoot and this weekend wrote: “I don’t know what my t*ts have to do with it.”
She addressed the comments, and insisted the photos have nothing to do with her ongoing campaigns for feminism.
Meanwhile one GMB fan wittily posted: “Is a film about a twitter war between & ?”
Another vented their fury and put: “ emma you dont need to explain yaself especially not to piers, just tell him to F**K OFF,” while another wrote: “ : feminism – having your cake and eating it- AKA HAVING a female body AND choosing what to do with it? Shocking.”
Yet some GMB viewers fought Piers’ corner on Twitter.
A clearly tickled viewer wrote: “ far to funny getting caught on the phone piers top guy.”
Another slammed Emma and commented: “You cannot parade topless(nipple is visible) and clam to be a feminist. Would Emma condonee page 3? I think not!” while a third put: “ Shes absolutely topless, your spot on, double standards gone mad. And finally, that shot is not appropriate a kids! Cheers.”
