The talented couple are sharing their skills with a new generation of ambitious stars

CORONATION Street beauty Faye Brookes has revealed she is going to share her acting knowledge with the next generation of aspiring soap stars by opening her very own performing arts academy.

And it’s not just soap acting skills aspiring performers will be able to learn – singing is going to be on the cards too as Faye is opening her school with her Pop Idol boyfriend Gareth Gates.

The 29-year-old Manchester born star (who plays Kate Connor on Corrie) took to Twitter to share her exciting news on Thursday.

She revealed that she and 32-year-old chart topper Gareth will be inspiring new talent at their school called Fates Academy.

“Thrilled to announce that me & my man @Gareth_Gates are joining forces. Launching a brand new performing arts School @FatesAcademy,” Faye revealed on Twitter.

Gareth was also excited to have a new job, tweeting: “Myself and my lady @Faye_Brookes have some news... we're opening a performing arts school together @FatesAcademy”.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Faye said she really hopes to inspire new talent to reach the dizzy heights of achieving roles on weeknight soaps.

And it sounds like her new academy will be offering young talent a place to learn – something she didn’t have herself growing up, Up North.

“There was nothing like this drama school around when I was that age and setting this up is a dream of mine. And working so close by makes it easier to bring people from Corrie in to do masterclasses,” the TV star gushed.

“I would love my co-stars to come in and it’s definitely something we can look at doing,” she said.

“I hope that we can inspire the next generation of Coronation Street stars,” she added.

Fates Academy will be based at University Technical College in Manchester’s Media City (which also houses large sections of the BBC).

Classes will be open to three age groups – with lessons for those aged five to eight, nine to 12, and 13 to 18.

The academy will be open on Tuesdays from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

The academy will strive to help young hopefuls perfect their skills and also prepare them for the audition process that all actors must face on their journey to the top.

Faye and Gareth have been dating since 2012 after meeting in a stage musical version of Legally Blonde.

The singer – who was runner up on Pop Idol back in 2002, conceding to winner Will Young – has recently turned to tea making since his music career dried up.

He also reckons Faye will be at the academy most weeks – while he might be too busy to appear as frequently.

“Faye only works two minutes away and will probably be there most weeks and I will be there when I can,” the star said.
