GILLIAN Anderson has opened up about her heart-breaking struggle with mental health issues over the years.
The X-Files star has admitted she has been in therapy since the age of 14, and has previously felt so low she didn't want to leave the house.
Gillian, 48, who stars in TV drama The Fall, made the shock confession in an interview with the , revealing she has been battling her demons in private for years.
She said: "There were times when it was really bad.
"There have been times in my life where I haven’t wanted to leave the house."

When asked about her issues, Gillian, who recently released a self-help guide, refused to give any details, adding: "I would have put them in the book if I wanted to talk about them out loud.”
She has written a book called We: A Manifesto For Women Everywhere to promote well-being and to help others struggling with self-esteem issues.
Gillian has also been open about her troubles wit memory, and admitted a friend told her she might be dyslexic.
The actress said: "Somebody had said to me that dyslexia isn’t just about seeing words backwards, it’s also about the assimilation of information.
"I’d always been afraid to look into it, because I was afraid that if I found something out, I would think that I couldn’t do anything that I wanted to do.
"I have this impression that I can do whatever I make up my mind to."
