The trio, who have 6.8m monthly listeners on Spotify, released their new record A LA SALA earlier this year and have begun to embark on their global tour alongside an extremely busy festival season.

Comprised of members Laura Lee, Mark Speer and Donald "DJ" Johnson, Khruangbin's origins trace back to 2004 when Mark and DJ met while playing in the gospel band at St. John's Methodist Church in Houston, under Pastor Rudy Rasmus.

Their collaboration began after a chance meeting in a bar, where Mark's musical knowledge impressed DJ.

Mark and Laura crossed paths in 2007 through mutual friends, bonding over Afghan music and Middle Eastern architecture.

By 2009, Laura started learning the bass with Mark’s help, and not long after, they both joined Yppah on tour, which cemented their musical bond.

The trio’s name, Khruangbin, which means airplane in Thai, highlights the wide range of global influences that inspire their music.

Their breakthrough came with Bonobo's 2013 tour, where their track Calf Born in Winter featured on his Late Night Tales compilation.

Khruangbin's debut album, The Universe Smiles Upon You, released in 2015, explored the rich history of Thai music from the 1960s and established their distinct sound.
