Sixties pop hero and Kinks frontman Sir Ray Davies reveals plans for new musical as he receives knighthood
The musician announced his latest show about siblings is inspired by his notoriously rocky relationship with his brother as he was honoured by Prince Charles
SIXTIES pop hero Sir Ray Davies is knighted by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace yesterday.
The Kinks frontman, 72, known for his rocky relationship with brother Dave, said he was writing a musical about siblings.
His musical Come Dancing won the Mobius Award for best Off-West End production in 2009 and Sunny Afternoon won four Olivier Awards.
Sir Ray and his brother recently reunited for the first time in decades during a gig in North London.
Commenting on the reunion, he said: “It lasted three minutes and it went very well and I said goodbye and went home.”

But the star, who wrote hits like You Really Got Me, said he did not consider himself a musician, adding: “If I had a card, it would say Sir Raymond Davies, creative person.”
“When I started the gig when we had our first hit You Really Got Me, I just wanted to make enough money to go and live in Spain for the rest of my life and paint pictures, and one thing led to another and I ended up here.”
