The Hollywood actress said the POTUS also invited her to stay at Trump Towers in 1988 during an interview played on Swedish TV
ACTRESS Emma Thompson has revealed the sensational moment US President Donald Trump asked her on a dinner date - before inviting her to stay at his iconic Trump Towers skyscraper.
The Love Actually star, 57, was in fits of giggles as she made her confession on a Swedish TV show last night, revealing the incident took place in 1988.
At that time, she was in the country filming political movie Primary Colours, released 28 years ago.
The clip was played on today's Good Morning Britain and saw Emma telling the hosts: "I lift up the phone and it's like 'Hi, it's Donald Trump here.
"I said, 'Really? Can I help you?'
"He said, 'I wonder if I could offer you some accommodation in one of my Trump Towers - they are really comfortable?
"I said why are you offering me somewhere to stay when I'm in my trailer - what?
"He added: 'I think we will get on really well you know and we could have dinner some time'."

As the studio crowd burst out laughing at her story, British star Emma continued: "I didn't know what to do with myself.
"I was on my own and I just said, 'I will get back to you!'" before bursting into sniggers herself.
The presenters were clearly gobsmacked at Emma's impromptu confession.
Meanwhile Emma recently revealed her fans will not be seeing her in the Love Actually spin-off filmed for today's Comic Relief.
The actress, who played Alan Rickman’s onscreen wife Karen in the blockbuster, revealed why she won’t be participating.
She confessed that the scriptwriter Richard Curtis decided to cut her character from the Red Nose Day film reunion following the tragic death of her co-star Alan Rickman.
She the Press Association: “Richard wrote to me and said, ‘Darling, we can’t write anything for you because of Alan’, and I said, ‘No, of course, it would be sad, too sad.’"
