Brand beckham expansion

Victoria Beckham anxiously launches designs for ‘the fattest Americans’ as she hopes to expand business to cater for women of all sizes

The Spice Girl wants to make more money by designing for all sizes

VICTORIA Beckham is nervously launching her first range of designs that haven’t been created for stick thin fashion obsessives.

The 42-year-old Spice Girl turned fashion designer has been collaborating with affordable American department store Target.

And her newest offerings include dresses and more that are aimed to suit women up to a size XXXL – which is the equivalent of a UK size 24.

In expanding her range in Target to include those that would be considered (that disputed term) “plus size”, Vicky thinks she is taking her biggest risk in business since setting up her high-end fashion house in 2008.

“There is a lot hanging on this for Victoria – it’s so different to everything she has done before. She wants to target absolutely everyone to make sure that she gets every single sale she can. That’s why she’s doing sizes even for the fattest Americans,” .

“She usually designs for the very thin figure so it has certainly surprised people. It is a good business decision, though – she needs to start making a profit,” the source continued.

According to the source, it is hoped that similar designs could filter across the pond for UK customers if the larger sizes sell out in America.

“She is always looking for a way to grow her business. If this works then there will almost certainly be a British version of the range,” the source said.

Vicky spoke about her Target collaborations in early March when her line of children’s clothes was unveiled.

She explained she was so happy to have made it as a designer and felt she received approval from the notoriously difficult industry when Tom Ford signalled she had won over the critics.

“I’m really proud of what I achieved with the Spice Girls, but I’m also proud of everything I have done with my brand,” she gushed to InStyle.

“So that meant a lot to me, you know? That’s Tom Ford saying, ‘We look at you as a credible designer,’ which was very cool,” she added.

And indeed Vicks seems able to shock even her longest serving fans.

On Thursday, many were shocked to see the Spice Girl in trainers as she was spotted in Notting Hill looking uncharacteristically dressed down.

Victoria was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to the fashion industry.

A stark contrast to husband David – who was exposed for having a foul mouthed temper tantrum after failing to be made a knight in emails that shocked the world when they were leaked in February.
