EMMERDALE fans were left heartbroken this evening as Carly Hope finally told her dad Bob about her dead son in harrowing scenes and confirmed that she planned to leave the Dales for good.
Tonight saw Gemma Atkinson's soap exit after her character Carly opened up about her secret heartbreak to her dad and said that she couldn't get close to April because she felt she wasn't a good mum because her child died.
Carly ended up leaving boyfriend Marlon Dingle devastated after she left without a proper goodbye to go to Spain.
Earlier on in the episode Carly was confronted by her dad after hearing that she was leaving the Dales until she finally blurted out that she had had a child.
She tearfully revealed in the cafe: "He wasn't breathing and I kept stroking and saying his name, but he couldn't... So I just wrapped him up and phoned the ambulance and rocking him telling him that he would be alright... but I knew, I just knew..."
Carly revealed that her son had been four days and 16 hours old and had been called Billy.
When Bob asked why she hadn't told him and that he could have helped her, she claimed that no one could have helped her.

She said: "He was mine to take care of and I failed him."
Carly went on to insist that it must have been something she had done. She added: "And this is why I can't deal with all this stuff with April. I know this is my problem and I've told Marlon everything but it doesn't make it better..."
She cried: "I'm so scared and all of this has brought it back... I love my boy so much."
Bob insisted: "It was tragic but it was an accident... you have got to forgive yourself."
Carly admitted that she had tried but couldn't.
She said: "I'm scared to get close to her in case anything bad happens because of me because I'm not a good mum, I wasn't meant to be a mum, some people just aren't meant to be them."
Bob then rushes off to get Marlon to talk to her, but the pair were devastated as they realised that she had gone without saying a word.
