Rich House Poor House viewers in tears as dad gives son new football boots as he gifts family with £1,700 worth of presents

RICH House Poor House viewers were in tears tonight when dad Anthony Williams was able to splash out £1,7000 on gifts for his family, including new football boots for his son AJ.

Antony and his wife Kayleigh  live in a three-bed council house in Weston-Super-Mare with their six kids and have £107 per week to live on after they've paid rent and some bills.

They swapped lives for a week with Claire and James Caddy from nearby Clifton in Bristol who have five kids (although two are at uni) and a disposable income of £1,741 a week.

Being flush with cash was a new experience for Antony and he couldn't resist splashing out on a £500 necklace for his wife, new boots for his son and a stuffed-crust pizza takeaway for all the family.

The Channel 5 show offered insights into different lifestyles but the most emotional point of the show came when  when Antony presented his eldest son AJ with a pair of football boots.

The little lad had been unable to play that school term as he'd grown out of his shoes and the family couldn't replaced them.

Thrilled, he squealed in delight and said he was never taking them off before was going upstairs and cuddling the shoe box.

Viewers were understandably emotional at the gesture and took to Twitter to commend dad Antony.

One wrote: "I'm so heartbroken at rich house, poor house. Especially seeing the little boy hug his new football boots 😭".

Another said: "@channel5_tv rich house poor house, those 6 little kiddies are so well behaved! Well done to the parents, you should be proud! 👍"

A third wrote: "Rich house poor house on channel 5 is so emotional, wee boy got surprised with new shoes so he can do PE again n was huggin the shoe box😭".
