CILLIAN Murphy appears to have undergone a horrifying zombie transformation in the newly-released 28 Years Later trailer.
Released on Tuesday morning, the chilling teaser for Danny Boyle’s post-apocalyptic sequel has sent fans into a frenzy - and it's all down to a figure they think is actor Cillian, 48.
In one haunting moment, a zombie rises from a field behind Jodie Comer’s character, sparking speculation that it might be none other than Cillian's character, Jim, from the original film.
While fans had long hoped for Cillian's return to the franchise, few could have predicted he might reappear in such a form.
With the trailer igniting wild theories online, fans shared their shock and excitement on social media.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: "Bro, what this mf did to Cillian Murphy."

Someone else joked: "Cillian Murphy has that perfect eerie vibe to pull off an infected."
Amother fumed: "That better not be Cillian Murphy rising out of that field. I didn’t think we’d actually ever get this movie."
A fourth added: "Oh god finally! Was not expecting Cillian Murphy to come back like that! I'm shook!!!"
Set for release in June 2025, 28 Years Later boasts a star-studded cast, including Jodie, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Erin Kellyman and Jack O’Connell.

The new 28 Years Later film follows the classic 2002 movie starring Peaky Blinders actor Cillian.
He's returning as an executive producer - and will even appear as original character Jim "in a surprising way", according to Sony Motion Pictures chairman Tim Rothman.
Speaking about her new film project, Jodie said: "Having met Danny [Boyle], he's incredibly sure and confident and innovative
"As an actor to be on a set with someone like that who's leading the charge is so exciting.
"I remember seeing 28 Days Later and I was so struck with how it was so rooted in reality, and it was more about the exploration of us as a species and our behaviour and how we react.
"It felt like there was a lot of emotional truth within the film that really anchored it. That's also what I felt when I read this script."
Meanwhile, Cillian says the 22-year-old movie is the only one of his films he watches back.
"I never watch my own films, except that one. I have great affection for it."
He added: "I can't give much more at this point, but I've always said I would love to be involved because that movie changed everything for me.
"It's always on around Halloween and during the pandemic people were constantly sending me clips.
"And I've shown it to my kids. It's really stood up, even though it's 22 years old now."
