Mel's legal team were in court to argue that Belafonte should not be allowed to pass on any sex tapes, photographs or other sexually explicit material,

The website reports the judge sided with her attorneys and reinforced a previous order on the matter, banning the distribution of any raunchy items.

The singer's lawyers reportedly claimed Belafonte had taken 12 to 15 boxes of personal belongings and memorabilia from the garage of the family home in California after Mel filed for divorce last month.

TMZ reports Belafonte put the boxes in a storage locker under the name of the former family nanny, Lorraine Gilles, who he is accused of having a fling with and getting pregnant.

During the court date, Mel's attorneys asked the judge to force Belafonte to give them access to the storage facility so they can retrieve the items, but the judge has yet to rule on the request.

New papers filed as part of the case allege Belafonte threatened to released intimate videos of Mel.

In the documents, Mel claims he would "regularly hold up his phone to me and point to a video file and say, 'It's just one click away,' meaning that with one click he could send out a video and my career would be over."

But TMZ.com reports Belafonte has denied allegations he threatened to go public with any saucy footage.

Mel filed for divorce from Stephen last month after 10 years of marriage and the divorce battle took a dark turn this week as the pop star filed for a restraining order to keep him away from her.

The court papers contained explosive allegations about domestic abuse, threesomes and claims Stephen got nanny Lorraine pregnant and paid for her to have an abortion.

Lorraine was pictured out and about in LA just days after the shocking claims came to light as her friends told The Sun that the nanny has denied having a fling with Stephen.

A statement released by Belafonte's rep dismissed Mel's claims: "In due course, Mr. Belafonte will be filing his response to the outrageous and unfounded allegations made by Ms. Brown, which allegations he vehemently denies...

"When the Court determines the truth, it will become clear that this entire charade was nothing more than a smear campaign intended to cover up Ms. Brown's own conduct during the marriage in light of her current involvement with a family television show, and in an effort to unfairly gain leverage both financially and with respect to custody of the children."
