AWARD-winning author Stephen King is the latest name to call for the Oscars to be cancelled in the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

The Academy Award-winning star added his voice to the growing list in the US for the biggest night in Hollywood to not go ahead.

“Not voting in the Oscars this year,” he wrote on Bluesky, the social platform he joined after ditching X recently.

 “IMHO they should cancel them. No glitz with Los Angeles on fire.”

Golden Globes winning Hacks star Jean Smart had suggested cancelling the three hour show, which draws hundreds of millions of viewers.

Smart suggested donating “the revenue they would have gathered to the victims of the fires and the firefighters.”

Social media has been flooded with people backing calls to postpone or scrap this year's star-studded event.

Currently the Academy is reviewing its show programme and presentation for the 2025 Oscars ceremony, which is  set to take place on March 2.

Bosses are looking at ways to raise revenues and awareness to assist victims of the biggest natural disaster in LA's history.

The Awards have not been postponed. And executives will do their utmost to make sure they run on time.

Millions of dollars of advertising deals are in place as well as schedule planning for the stars' attendance.

King has enjoyed much success during his career at the Oscars as well as being one of the most successful novelists of all time, Director Brian De Palma adapted his novel Carrie to the big screen in 1976, which was nominated for two Oscars.

His other hits included The Shining, Christine, The Dead Zone, Creepshow, Cujo, and Firestarter,

Rob Reiner adapted his novella The Body into the acclaimed coming-of-age drama Stand By Me, which  was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

In 1994, The Shawshank Redemption was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture and five years later The Green Mile racked up four nominations in 1999, also including Best Picture.

However he did pick up an Academy Award for the Kathy Bates led horror Misery released in 1990.
