Who is Ross Noble? What's his background?

Ross Noble is the quick-witted comic known for his broad Geordie accent and random observations on life.

He was born in Newcastle in June 1976 and grew up in the small town of Cramlington in Northumberland.

Ross, now 41, struggled at school after discovering he was dyslexic and later studied performing arts at Newcastle College.

He joined a clown troop and aspired to join the circus but fell in to becoming a comedy warm-up act at the BBC for satirical show Friday Night Armistice.

The comedian later played shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before moving to London.

He is married to his Australian wife Fran and the pair have two daughters Willow and Elfie.

How did Ross Noble become famous?

After winning a Time Out Award in 2000 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, he became popular in both the UK and Australia.

Ross also saw his live stand up show transfer to the West End of London and has since toured up and down the country.

On TV he is a regular on shows such as Room 101, QI and Eight Out of Ten Cats. Ross also has made 16 appearances, more than any other guest on Have I Got News for You.

The comic also a fan of cars and appeared on Top Gear in the celebrity segment, star in a reasonably priced car in 2011.

He is also set to return to the BBC motoring show to tackle the track once again.

Noble will also be returning as a panellist on BBC satirical quiz show, Have I Got News For You.

Where does Ross Noble live now?

Ross now lives in the UK with his family after they returned from living in Australia in 2010.

He moved back to Britain after formerly setting up home in St Andrews, a semi-rural town on the outskirts of Melbourne.

In 2009 a bush fire destroyed his 100-acre farm in Australia destroying most of his family's possessions.

His wife and then baby daughter Elfie narrowly managed to escape the flames after they engulfed their home while Ross was away on tour.
