Mel B’s ex Stephen Belafonte ‘struggling to get by’ after she blocks him from their bank accounts

MEL B has blocked husband Stephen Belafonte from accessing all of their bank accounts.

Mel, 41, put the freeze on her ex after claiming Belafonte controlled her £40million finances during their turbulent marriage.

Belafonte, 41, is said to have contacted ex Nicole Contreras — whom he was convicted of assaulting — and pleaded poverty after his cash flow was cut off.

A source claimed: “This has hit Stephen hard.

"Mel has finally pulled the rug out from underneath him and that seems to have left him a bit lost.

“He’s even been back in touch with Nicole moaning about it — insisting it has left him struggling to get by.

"He has had instant access to a fortune for such a long time that he doesn’t seem to know what to do.”

Former Spice Girl Mel has claimed she was repeatedly beaten by Belafonte during their decade-long marriage and forced into threesomes.

She has now indicated she is not prepared to pay “spousal support” to film producer Belafonte.

But he has filed for an allowance and is demanding she covers his hefty legal costs.

The couple are also set to battle for custody of their five-year-old daughter, Madison.

Mel has obtained a court order banning Belafonte and their former nanny from releasing any sex tapes featuring her.

Nicole told last week how she regrets not warning Mel about his “abusive” behaviour.

Belafonte denies all the allegations against him.

His lawyer said: “Ms Brown is creating ­further hysteria and seeking meaningless court orders.”
