KRIS Marshall is perhaps best known for his role as DCI Humphrey Goodman in Death in Paradise – but now the British actor could be set for his biggest role yet.

Who is Kris Marshall?

Kris Marshall is a 44-year-old actor who has starred in a number of roles since the early 90s.

He is married to Hannah Dodkins, who he has two children with. They live in Bath together.

When he was a child, Kris and his parents moved to Hong Kong and then Canada before returning to England.

Kris initially failed his A-levels at boarding school Wells Cathedral School and later moved to Maidenhead’s Redroofs Theatre School.

He is also rather tall at 6’2.

Will Kris Marshall be the new assistant in Doctor Who?

It was initally reported that Kris Marshall could new Doctor Who and that he had already begun filming for the new series.

“Kris Marshall has already joined the cast and will regenerate at the end of this series, not in the Christmas special,” a source told the .

It was reported that Kris could have been the one replacing Peter Capaldi

According to the paper, the BBC has refused to consider a woman for the lead character, with the source adding: “They won’t risk a woman Doctor. They want a David Tennant type.”

However in July it was officially confirmed that Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker would be the new time lord in an historic move.

But Kris is now being strongly tipped to play the assistant to the new Doctor Who. A source told The Sun: “Kris is a big fan of the show and the BBC are a big fan of this.”

What other TV series and films has Kris Marshall starred in?

Kris got his big break as dim Nick Harper in BBC sitcom My Family in 2000, which he starred in alongside Robert Lindsay.

During the five years he was filming the series he also starred as moron Colin Frissell in Love Actually.

He then went on to play DS Luke Stone in Murder City from 2004 to 2006 and Dave in Citizen Khan in 2012.

In 2014 he landed the role of hapless detective DI Humphrey Goodman until he quit the role this year.

Kris was also known for playing Adam in the BT adverts for seven years.
