Appearing on Tuesday's Lorraine, Julia admitted her character will be in for a lot of shocks and drama in the coming weeks as the two storylines unfold.
Speaking about Clayton, who Shona gave birth to when she was 13 while in an abusive relationship, Julia said: "Their relationship is very fractured, it could get a hell of a lot worse."
Shona confessed her true identity to a shocked Gail on Monday night, and Julia opened up about her character's connection to the Platt family, which also includes Kylie's grieving husband David.
She said: "I think she’s not the kind of person who would be that manipulative, it’s just mother and mother, they have a lot more in common than either of them realised when they first got to know each other."
As for her closeness to David, she added: "I think the relationship probably will develop, in which way we don’t yet know, but can you imagine how complicated that will be.
She said: "Shona doesn’t yet know that Bethany’s Nathan is her ex Nathan.
"She will be finding out that Bethany’s Nathan is her Nathan and the repercussions of that probably will be quite huge."
Julia previously revealed to The Sun Online that Shona was Nathan's last victim and only found Bethany at Christmas because he was trying to track her down.
Shona was wandering the cobbles alone after Nathan attacked her but luckily found herself taken in by Vicar Billy and embraced by the street.
However, her dark secret is set to either be the making or breaking of her, with Julia saying:"Nathan and Shona used to go out and obviously we've seen what he's doing with Bethany at the moment and because Shona's a bit older, he tried to do it to Shona but she said, 'No way'.
"Hence why she ended up homeless on Christmas Day because he'd kicked her out. So when Nathan came to the street it was to follow Shona, to try and get her back,, and then he found Bethany which is awful."
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights on ITV
