Keira Knightley is returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series after a 10-year absence

She'll be reunited with co-stars Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp

SOMEONE at Disney is surely going to walk the plank after the Japanese trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 showed Keira Knightley's return - despite it reportedly being top secret.

The trailer shows Keira's character Elizabeth Swann making a dramatic return to the popular pirate franchise in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot.

The British actress, 32, and her co-star Orlando Bloom have both been absent from the franchise that launched them into superstardom since 2007’s At World’s End - leaving Johnny Depp to tackle 2011’s On Stranger Tides alone.

Orlando’s return was confirmed back in 2015 but Keira had previously spoken out against returning to the franchise.

In 2014 Keira confessed: “It was an amazing point in my life, but it was a good five-year chunk. It was incredible, but I can’t really imagine going back to it.”

Johnny Depp's character Captain Jack is back too for the latest instalment

The Sun Online reported last year on sightings of Keira on set and the extreme security measures adopted to make sure it remained a big reveal for audiences in the cinema.

Although Orlando Bloom’s swashbuckling hero, Will Turner, has been glimpsed briefly in promo footage for Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge, Keira’s return had remained completely unseen and not even hinted at.

Allegedly her cameo will be part of an end credits sequence which will pave the way for a full-time return for Keira in the sequel.

Appearing for just one second in the trailer, Elizabeth Swann doesn’t look to have aged at all since we last saw her ten years ago.

It's rumoured that newcomer Brenton Thwaites' character Henry Turner will be the son of Elizabeth Swann and Orlando Bloom's swashbucking captain of The Dutchman, Will Turner.

The latest instalment of the popular pirate franchise will hit UK cinemas next month.

It will see an old enemy of Jack Sparrow return from the deep depths of the ocean to seek revenge upon the sea-dwelling scoundrel.
