Who is Romola Garai?

Romola Garai was born August 6, 1982, and is an English actress, writer, and director.

After training at the National Youth Theatre, she has gone on to star in many major films and TV series.

She has been nominated twice for a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA.

Romola has enjoyed many high profile roles on TV.

Her first big break was playing the young Judi Dench in The Last of the Blonde Bombshells.

She is also well known for appearing in the BBC series Emma and The Hour - for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe.

She recently starred in Born To Kill.

In March 2013, Romola gave birth to a daughter and married her boyfriend, British actor Sam Hoare, the following year.

They have since had a second child.

What films has Romola Garai been in?

Her first major film role was in 2002 starring as Kate Nickleby in Nicholas Nickleby.

She also played Briony Tallis when she was a teenager in Atonement, alongside Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

Other films she has been include Dirty Dancing 2, Vanity Fair, Glorious 39, One Day and As You Like It.

When will The Miniaturist air on BBC One?

The Miniaturist will be split into two parts across the Christmas period.

Episode one is 90 minutes long, and aired on Boxing Day at 9pm on BBC1

It will conclude on the following day at the same time with 60-minutete instalment.

Both parts will then become available on BBC iPlayer.
