Comic Jason Manford signs up to host BBC cookery gameshow replacing The Great British Bake Off
EVER since Channel 4 poached The Great British Bake Off from the BBC – speculation has been rife that the Beeb have been plotting their own rip-off replacement.
And now the channel has turned to JASON MANFORD in a surprising bid to fill the big innuendo shaped hole.
The comic has been signed up as the host of a brand new cookery gameshow on BBC1 called My Mum Cooks Better Than Yours.
The series, which is based on a Portuguese primetime format, will see two family members competing for a prize by cooking the family’s best-loved recipe against the clock.
And a surprising twist to the show will see parents direct their children who are a disaster in the kitchen.
A TV insider said: “The BBC have been gunning to find a replacement for Bake Off ever since it was nabbed by Channel 4.
“And now they think they’ve found the answer to a fun new cookery show in this.
“And producers think Jason will be able to bring back the comedic charm that SUE PERKINS and MEL GIEDROYC brought to Bake Off.”

The programme, which is made by the producer behind HARRY HILL’s Tea Time, is also set to star MasterChef judge MONICA GALETTI.
I’m sure she can teach Jason a thing or two.
