PIERCE Harris brutally raped Rhona Goskirk just hours after their wedding in shocking scenes on Emmerdale this evening.
Over the last few months viewers have watched Pierce manipulate and control Rhona, but tonight’s episode took an incredibly dark turn.
The horrifying ordeal saw Rhona attempt to escape his clutches – only to be dragged back into the house and pushed to the ground.
During the harrowing final minutes of the episode, Rhona screamed at her husband as she tried to plead with him to stop.
Their wedding day began on a troubling note after Pierce (Jonanthan Wrather) was left seething after overhearing Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) talk to Rhona (Zoe Henry) about their drunken kiss.
He was clearly seething inside but kept up a façade as he got ready for their wedding day.
Shortly before meeting at the church, Rhona saw Paddy outside who wished her well and gave her his mum’s necklace as “something old”.
Touched by his kindness, Rhona then replaced the necklace she had received from Pierce with the one Paddy had given her.
After the wedding they headed over to the Woolpack for the party.
After Pierce gave a cringe-inducing speech, he made a gesture of whisking her away back to their place.
When they were back at the house he gave her an envelope, which he told her contained the lease on the premises for the practice at the Lake District.
She was shocked that he had made such a big decision without her, and he insisted it was a great idea.
Rhona stood her ground, saying that she couldn’t just leave and she also had to think of her son Leo too.
But Pierce spat out not to use Leo as an excuse and that she just didn’t want to be separated from Paddy.
He snarled: “I know that you kissed him. I knew that Paddy was not over you but it seems you’re not over him either.”
She insisted that she had been drunk and that she had been upset.
Pierce snapped: “You know how much she hurt me and here we are, history repeating.”
Rhona repeated that it had been one drunken kiss and that it had meant nothing.
He was incensed by this point and yelled as he pointed at her: “Don’t dismiss my feelings.”
Beginning to unravel, he demanded: “What about Paddy? No wonder he lingers around like a bad smell because you keep leading him on!”
Rhona pleaded with him to calm down but he ignored her and yelled: “Do you get some kind of kick out of playing us off against one another? Are you that insecure?”
He then suggested that she was keeping him on the “backburner”, which prompted her to try and leave but he stepped in her way. She asked him to get out of her way but he refused.
A frightened Rhona then ran to the other door but he followed her menacingly.
He snarled: “You’re going nowhere, you’re my wife now.”
She pulled open the door and stepped out but he dragged her back inside.
Trapped between him and the door, Rhona pleaded for him not to blow it out of proportion.
He then noticed the necklace and demanded where she got it.
When she admitted that she had got it from Paddy he went ballistic and she tried to tell him that he was being paranoid.
But he grabbed the necklace and pulled it off, snarling: “It’s not ‘paranoid’ when your wife is a slut!”
She then said that that “was it” but he became even more infuriated.
He grabbed her, pushing her backwards, as he said that she “wasn’t leaving him on their wedding day” and threw her down on the floor.
Pierce then grabbed her again and she screamed at him to get off her, but he pulled her to the ground.
She cried at him to get off her and that she didn’t want this as he pinned her wrists down.
Will Rhona go to the police about the rape?
