SHIRLEY Carter finally accepted Max Branning's business proposal to buy the Queen Vic's freehold in order to save ill bulldog Lady Di's life.
With the Carter's financially stricken, Shirley (Linda Henry) had little choice but to agree to Max's terms to fund the life-saving treatment needed to fix Lady Di as well as the collapsed ceiling upstairs.
New boy Woody Woodward (Lee Ryan) spent most of Monday night's episode thinking of ways to raise the money another way with no luck.
Stubborn Shirley dropped the bombshell when Woody asked her what she was going to do as she arrived behind the bar.
She simply said: "I'm gonna go over and see Linda. Try and persuade her to sell the freehold on this place."
Enjoying a pint at the bar, Max could be seen smirking to himself as it looks like he's soon to be the owner of the freehold.
Earlier in the episode, Woody told Shirley Lady Di meant more to Linda and Mick than "bricks and mortar" and that they'd be willing to do anything to save her life.
Elsewhere on the square, Carmel swallowed her pride and asked her son Kush if he and girlfriend Denise wanted to have a night out at the Vic to try and smooth over their differences.
Hesitantly, Kush said he thought it was a great idea but needed to run it past Denise first.
Her proposal came after some encouraging words from Honey Mitchell, but it remains to be seen if she and Denise can heal their wounds.
