Who is Charlotte Edwardes?

Robert Peston is in a relationship with Sunday Times columnist Charlotte Edwardes/

that Boris Johnson squeezed her thigh and that of another woman under the table at a dinner held at the offices of the Spectator magazine in 1999.

She says that Johnson, then editor of the Spectator, put his hand "high" up her leg and had “enough inner flesh beneath his fingers” to make her “sit suddenly upright”.

Edwardes was at the time a young newspaper reporter and occasional contributor to the magazine.

She says that after the dinner, she confided what had happened to the woman who had been sat on Johnson's opposite side, who she knew.

She says the woman replied: "Oh God, he did exactly the same to me."

Edwardes was writing to mark the second anniversary of the start of the #MeToo movement, which began in October 2017 after allegations by dozens of women of sexual misconduct by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein emerged.

The movement saw women around the world sharing stories of sexual harassment and abuse they had suffered on social media using the hashtag #MeToo.
