Stephen Belafonte accused of ‘letting a convicted killer sleep in daughter Madison’s bedroom’ in bombshell court hearing with Mel B’s lawyers

He allegedly brought rapper Tru Life home, who was sentenced to eight years in jail for manslaughter in 2011

STEPHEN Belafonte was accused by Mel B's lawyer of allowing a convicted criminal sleep in their daughter's bed, during a heated visitation hearing on Monday.

The Spice Girl's legal counsel Larry Bakman told the LA court how Belafonte had welcomed rapper Tru Life, real name Robert Rosado, into the family home despite knowing he had been sentenced to eight years in jail back in 2011 for manslaughter.

Bakman said: "He had a convicted felon who was just released from prison residing in the family home and sleeping in Madison’s bed."

But Belafonte’s lawyer Grace Jamra countered by claiming Mel's team was conducting ‘an ongoing smear campaign’ against her client and refused to "address fabricated evidence."

She added: "Mother Teresa does not marry Atila the Hun."

Rosado was jailed for his part in the death of Christopher Guerrero, 20, who was fatally stabbed by Rosado's brother Marcus during a fight in June 2009.

Speaking at the time, Robert's lawyer said: "Robert is extremely saddened by what happened. Mr. Guerrero did not deserve what happened to him."

Despite the claims made by Bakman in court, Belafonte was granted supervised visits to see his daughter Madison but will not be able to visit Mel's daughter Angel.

On Sunday, The Sun exclusively reported that Belafonte desperately begged his wife for a “cash advance” in new papers as their divorce battle becomes increasingly strained.

Lawyers acting for Belafonte, 41, have insisted he needs funds for “living expenses” from the ex Spice Girl.

But Mel, also 41, has turned down his request, instead accused him of stealing £800,000 from her – a claim Belafonte denies.

Mel’s lawyer says in new court papers: “He has plenty of funds I assume from the amounts he has earned and continues to earn (and taken) to pay for his expenses.

“We do not believe your client is entitled to much, if any, of the community, but will owe Mel for the amounts he has taken from her without her knowledge or consent.”
