CAR DESPAIR

Car Share fans set for disappointment as final episode ends in heartbreak for Kayleigh and John

CAR Share fans are set to be left disappointed after Kayleigh finally tells John she loves him...and he brushes her off in a sad twist.

Avid viewers of Peter Kay's comedy show have been crossing their fingers that the pair, who have travelled to work together every day since 2015, will become a couple.

But as the end of the second series comes to a close, it seems both fans and Kayleigh - played by Sian Gibson - will be left deflated.

While travelling home from work, Kayleigh will ask John, played by Kay: ";What are we?"

Turning up the music on the car stereo, John attempts to avoid the question.

And when she asks again, he explains that "it is better to stay away from it all" following his heartbreak over ex-girlfriend Charlotte.

After being accused of "living in a fairy tale", Kayleigh tells John: "I don't live in a fairy tale, John.

"I just want to be happy."

Laying her cards on the table, she brands him "infuriating", before declaring: "I can't waste any more time John, I don't have time to waste. I'm getting out."

John replies: "Of where?"

Kayleigh tells him: "Out of your car and your life.

"Because I love you, John, and it kills me you don't feel the same."

Earlier this week, Peter Kay admitted that he had never planned for the "subtle romance" between John and Kayleigh.

Speaking to Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2, the comedian said: "I never realised it would be so much of a subtle romance.

"There is an undercurrent of romance but I don't want it to be 'just good friends' - not that I didn't like 'just good friends', I loved it - but they did circle around each other for a good few series'.

"It just developed into this, I didn't realise people would think of it more as a romance.

"That's what is more intriguing about it - is it unrequited love, or people who very much want to be loved and would love to be in love but are frightened of getting hurt."

Peter added: "They want to say it but they're just so frightened that if they'll say it they'll get rejected, so the easy option is just not to say it."

Care Share airs on BBC One at 9pm on Tuesday.
