Meanwhile Nick Tilsley is furious that Leanne Battersby is letting Steve so close to their son when he would rather be in the pub

LEANNE Battersby's baby son Oliver is left fighting for his life after being rushed to hospital - with Steve McDonald nowhere to be found - in tense scenes on Coronation Street.

Steve arranges to collect Oliver for an evening of bonding, but never turns up to pick up his son.

The incident sparks a furious row between Steve and Nick Tilsley, who finds Steve in the Rovers Return and rails at him for prioritising the pub over baby Oliver.

Meanwhile Leanne is just worried about a rash she has spotted on the baby's back, and could end up frustrated with Nick for failing to keep the peace with baby daddy Steve.

Keen to make amends, Steve then takes Oliver to the beach for the day.

But this sets off more drama when angry Michelle confronts him for taking his new son to the beach where they scattered Ruairi's ashes on the day he was due to be born.

Drained by the argument, Leanne heads home with Oliver.

But she soon finds the baby is barely conscious, and terrified, Nick calls an ambulance.

At the hospital, Leanne is wracked with worry about what will happen to her baby, and orders Nick to call Steve to come and join them.

It's a less than perfect moment for Nick to feel angry and jealous that Leanne asked for Steve, and spend his time in the waiting room fuming.

As baby Oliver is taken away by the nurse, there's nothing they can do but wait and find out what is wrong with him.

Either way, the ensuing scenes are set to be tense.
