They were trying out for Cilla — The Musical at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool, hometown of the singer and Blind Date host, who died in 2015.

Some went as far as styling and dying their hair in 1960s dos to match the famous redhead.

Many adopted the swinging 60s style, mimicking the fashion of the decade that saw Cilla's rise to fame.

It is based on the ITV mini-series about her rise to fame.

It debuts at the Empire in September before touring the UK.

The story follows ordinary northern girl, Priscilla White on her journey to become of Britain's greatest personalities.
