Lenny Henry shows off a much slimmer figure while he promotes his new West End play
The actor stars in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui
LENNY Henry showed off his remarkable weight loss at the press night after party of his new play The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui.
The actor's figure looked much slimmer as he posed for photographs in a beige jacket over a blue top and black trousers.
He sported a well-groomed moustache and appeared in good spirits as he smiled in a funkily decorated room with eyecatching art work and furniture.
Sir Lenny, 58, posed with his arm around director Simon Evans, who toasted the osccasion with a glass of bubbly.
The star recently starred in the third series of Broadchurch and was an early suspect in the series' Trish Winterman rape case.
Playing Trish's boss Ed Burnett, Lenny was cuffed and taken in for questioning by Detectives Hardy (David Tennant) and Miller (Olivia Colman).
Fans flocked to Twitter to express their outrage, insisting his character must be innocent.
One wrote: “Sir Lenny wouldn’t do a thing like that!! and another added: “They can’t make Lenny Henry the Rapist!!”
However, it was eventually revealed that Michael Lucas (Deon Lee-Williams) was actually the man who attacked Trish (Julie Hesmondhalgh) and had worked alongside Leo Humphries (Chris Mason) to commit the shocking crime.

When asked if their divorce was painful, Lenny admitted it was, telling The Express: “There’s generally a situation where one partner wants the marriage to finish more than the other.
"We knew it wasn’t possible to continue.”
The couple have an adopted daughter, Billie, 25, and have managed to remain friends.
After their break up, Dawn revealed how close the couple still were and revealed they still deeply cared for one another.
She said: “This had been a very happy marriage for a very long time and you don’t stop looking after each other or caring for each other, whatever has happened.
“It was extremely upsetting at the time but I have clearly moved on and so has he.”
