Who is Stephen Mangan?

Stephen Mangan was born in Ponders End, North London.

He studied Law at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge before taking a year out to care for his mum, Marry, who sadly passed away aged 45 after suffering from colon cancer.

He later lost his dad to a brain tumour, with his children's books having covered the subject of grieving.

But the star told The Independent he has been able to find the humour in life even in tough situations, saying: "When I was going through the most traumatic and difficult times of my life, when I was watching my parents die, there were moments where things were funny.

"Now you could stand at the side and go, ‘Oh you find it funny that your mum’s dying? You find it funny that your dad’s dying?’ No. But as a human being, that ability to find humour in the darkest moments can save you.

"In the bleakest, darkest moments, comedy can throw a light."

Weeks after his mother's death, Stephen went on to audition for the esteemed Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art (RADA) where he later studied for three years.

His breakthrough TV role was as Adrian Mole in the six-part BBC TV show series Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years in 2001.

Is he married and does he have children?

Mangan is married to actress Louise Delamere.

She is best known for her roles as Lia in the Channel 4 comedy-drama No Angels and Colette Sheward in the BBC medical drama Holby City.

They married in 2007 and have three sons together: Henry, Frank, and Jack.

What is The Fortune Hotel?

The Fortune Hotel is a new game show coming to BBC One.

It's made up of eight episodes and will see 10 pairs of contestants and The Fortune Hotel guests battle it out to get the all-important briefcase containing the £250,000.

Talking about being involved in the new game show, Stephan told This Morning viewers: "It's a really interesting game.

"You sort of want people's trust but you sometimes have to lie because that's what the game is. It's a mind melt."

He continued: "There's all sorts of epic challenges, involving speed boats and beaches and climbing all over the town. It was very exciting and just a thrill.

"No one can relax too much because things change up but you have to try and work out who has the money.

"You have to be good at the challenges and the challenges really matter in how the game is played.

"I didn't want to know who had the money because I am grilling them all. I just didn't want to lead anyone because it is a life-changing amount of cash.

"I did try and work out who had it and I was wrong most of the time. It's very hard, people are clever."
