Telly star Eleanor Tomlinson is about to unleash hidden singing talent
BBC actress is swapping period drama for pop by releasing her debut album
AIDAN TURNER has stolen the Poldark limelight for two series with his party trick – taking his shirt off.
Now his co-star ELEANOR TOMLINSON is about to unleash her hidden talent on the world.
The BBC actress is swapping period drama for pop by releasing her debut album.
Eleanor has teamed up with Poldark composer ANNE DUDLEY, who revealed details of Eleanor’s switch to music at the Ivor Novello Awards.
The star has showed off her pipes before while playing Demelza in the hit series, but this will be the first time the actor has released her own album.
Anne, who won the Outstanding Contribution to British Music prize, said: “Eleanor is a great singer. She sings some of the songs in Poldark and we’re doing an album of folk-ish covers.
“I want to do it in quite an original way. It’s separate from the series.
We are hoping to record it this year.”
She added: “Her parents are both very good singers so there must be something in her genes.
“She has a very good folk, unaffected voice.”
If Eleanor’s new career takes off she might find herself celebrating a win at next year’s Ivor Novellos.
Yesterday’s ceremony was dominated by grime star SKEPTA, who won two awards including the coveted Songwriter Of The Year gong.

Nile and Chris had music plan
ADELE made a good choice swerving the bash at London’s Grosvenor House, as she lost out on the PRS Most Performed Work trophy to COLDPLAY’s Adventure Of A Lifetime.
Frontman CHRIS MARTIN also skipped the do, but bandmates WILL CHAMPION and JONNY BUCKLAND made an appearance.
Other winners included FLORENCE WELCH, PULP and LAURA MVULA, who stuck two fingers up to her ex-record company, Sony, after it dropped her by email last year.
If the label wants to replace Laura with another singer, Eleanor is waiting in the wings.
NILE RODGERS has revealed he was working on an album with tragic SOUNDGARDEN frontman CHRIS CORNELL before his death.
The CHIC legend was good pals with Chris, who died after performing in Detroit on Wednesday night. His death is being treated as a suspected suicide.
Nile said: “We didn’t just do music together, we were friends – we hung out together, we go to dinner, we go shopping.

Who was Chris Cornell and how did he die?
“Sure I go to their concerts and stand backstage as a fan, but our friendship was much, much more personal. We were probably working our way towards making a record but I think what was great about my friendship with Chris, it’s because we were just bros.
“I could call up and say, ‘Hey man, I’m in town’ and we would have dinner or hang out with the kids.”
Nile also let slip he might be planning a surprise link-up with ED SHEERAN at Glastonbury this summer. Asked his thoughts on Chic’s appearance at Worthy Farm, he said: “I’m going to be closing Glastonbury with my boy Ed Sheeran, whose album is my favourite of right now.”
He’s certainly not alone.

DONNA AIR, JO WOOD and Downton Abbey’s MATT BARBER were seen at this week’s launch of the Little Bird bar in Battersea, South London. It was a joint do for socialite Michael Evans’ birthday. Not a bad guest list.
CARA DELEVINGNE will never be short of ice-creams for her summer barbecues.
The model hosted the special Magnum x Moschino event at Cannes yesterday.
And she covered up her new cropped haircut with a red French-style beret with the word “Anarchy” scrawled across it.
She’ll be using the festival to network with movie bigwigs in the hope of getting more work to add to her acting CV.
In her latest film Life In A Year, directed by Mitja Okorn and due out next year, Cara plays a terminally ill woman with one year left to live.
Given her quirky personality, she’ll no doubt be after a more chirpy film next. Zoolander 3?
Liam roasts 'spud' Noel
IT’S fair to say LIAM GALLAGHER wasn’t best pleased at not being invited to his brother NOEL’s 50th birthday bash.
My team yesterday revealed details of the former OASIS star’s upcoming cocaine-themed bash, with the invites sent out to guests featuring the rocker mocked up as Colombian coke baron PABLO ESCOBAR.
And it appears Liam’s RSVP has been lost in the post, judging by his reaction to our story.
Writing on Twitter, he said: “Re: Potatoe’s 50th – he’s invited none of his family, not even his own mother. Says a lot about the man and his party planner. Pair of w*****s.”
Liam turns 50 in six years so he’ll have a chance to exact his revenge then.
I doubt they’ll have made up in that time.

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO is back on the market again. He’s split from Danish model NINA AGDAL after 12 months dating. The split was amicable. It shouldn’t be long until another Victoria’s Secret girl is seen on his arm.
Bell and Em don't feel up for film
LAST year I revealed a host of top stars at Cannes Film Festival were attending premieres but failing to stay and watch the movies.
And now I’ve learned there’s a new crop of publicity-hungry models swarming the red carpets for the sole purpose of getting pictured.
BELLA HADID, EMILY RATAJKOWSKI, and HAILEY BALDWIN wore their best dresses on Wednesday for the opening screening of Ismael’s Ghosts before shooting off to party on a yacht.
Bella took her cry for attention one step further by filming herself touching Emily’s breasts in one video uploaded to a social media site.
However, given the film was slated by the critics, on this occasion plenty more guests wished they’d done the same thing and scarpered.

RICKY WILSON has The Voice to thank for his wardrobe, as well as giving his career a shot in the arm. The former TV coach said: “The BBC bought me this. I got my licence fee back one suit at a time.” No wonder he fancies a return to the ITV reboot.
Bizmeter: weekend
Film:
GUY RITCHIE’s new movie King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword bombed in the US – so much so a sequel seems unlikely. But now it’s the turn of the Brits to decide whether it really is a turkey after its UK release today. Sadly DAVID BECKHAM’s acting debut, which has been widely panned, won’t help its cause.
Awards:
THE Billboard Music Awards are back and the industry’s top names descend on Las Vegas on Sunday. ED SHEERAN, BRUNO MARS, NICKI MINAJ, DRAKE, JOHN LEGEND and CELINE DION – who I interviewed last month – will all attend. Brits ZAYN MALIK and ADELE are among the nominees.
Charity:
TV’s ANDREA McLEAN is back fighting-fit again after her hysterectomy – and to prove it she’s taking part in a charity walk. The Loose Women host will join DENISE VAN OUTEN and other celebrity walkers for the five, ten or 20-mile trek around Blenheim Palace’s grounds on Saturday in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
Catwalk:
NAOMI CAMPBELL will join rapper P DIDDY as they host the Fashion For Relief party and catwalk show at Cannes Film Festival on Sunday. The duo are expecting some stylish guests. In previous years IVANA TRUMP and JANE FONDA attended the bash, but Naomi will undoubtedly be star of the show.
