Coronation Street bosses ramp up security measures in the wake of Manchester terror attack
CORONATION Street bosses have ramped up security measures on set following last night's Manchester terror attack.
Cast and crew of the Manchester-based soap are being forced to undergo rigorous security checks today, including being individually checked by security and having their cars searched.
And extra security have also been drafted in in a bid to keep the set as safe as possible- as the set is just three miles away from where the Ariana Grande concert bombing happened.
A source told The Sun: "There's heavy security at the set of Corrie today - it's noticeable just how many more guards are present.
"Unlike usual, cars are being checked and while everyone has passes to get in everyone's being individually checked by extra security staff that have been recruited especially.

"There's always great security in place at Corrie but the whole team has been completely shaken by the attack last night given its proximity to the set.
"Corrie and producers are taking no chances whatsoever."
The set of Coronation Street is based at MediaCityUK in Trafford - just miles away from where last night's attack happened at the Manchester Arena.
Droves of stars of the ITV soap have shared their support for the attack on Monday which killed 22 people and injured 59.
Shayne Ward, who plays Aidan Connor, said: "This is just so heartbreaking to hear. Why, why, why? My thoughts, love and prayers are with Manchester and families."
Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor, said: "I cannot believe what is happening. Praying for the people who lost their lives tonight in Manchester. Thoughts are with their families."
Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, said: "Last night, innocent people went to a concert to watch someone they loved perform. Some of these people never left that concert. Heartbroken. We are Manchester."
And Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, added: "Absolutely heartbreaking".
Corrie actresses Sally Dynevor and Connie Hyde also revealed that they are "in shock" on Good Morning Britain today after the tragic Ariana Grande Manchester terror attack.
Sally admitted that initially her own 13-year-old daughter wanted to attend the concert but they didn't go because she's not "organised" enough to buy tickets.
An official Coronation Street Twitter account also paid tribute to victims of the attack, writing: "We love Manchester, it is our home.
"Our hearts go out to everyone affected by last night's tragic events."
A Corrie spokeswoman declined to comment.
