His family announced the sad news in May 2017, revealing that the Hollywood star had died of cancer.
Who was Roger Moore?
Roger Moore was a Hollywood legend best known for playing James Bond until around 1985.
He was known for his charity work, which was a citation on his knighthood. He was awarded the honour in 2003 and said that the citation "meant far more to me than if I had got it for acting... I was proud because I received it on behalf of UNICEF as a whole and for all it has achieved over the years".
Roger was born in Stockwell, London, to Lillian and George Alfred Moore. He had originally wanted to be an artist, but began acting as an extra in the late 1940s.
He served in the military in the Second World War before moving to the US and acting a few films which garnered mixed reviews.
In the 1950s he then went into television and starred in Ivanhoe (1958) and The Alaskans (1959), but his breakthrough role was The Saint in 1962.
After a number of other roles he accepted the role of James Bond in the early 1970s to replace Sean Connery.
He bowed out of the franchise when he was 57 years old.
Roger went on to star in a number of films afterwards and was recently filming Troll Hunters and Astrid Silverlock.
