Amir Khan admits he’s ‘scared’ of anti-Muslim attitudes towards his daughter, 2, after Manchester terror attacks
BOXER Amir Khan admitted he is "scared" of walking the streets with his young daughter because he fears an anti-Muslim backlash to the Manchester terror attacks.
In a candid chat on today's Good Morning Britain, the light-welterweight world champion, 30, confessed he feels apprehensive about potential negative feeling and racial abuse following the horror suicide bomb on Monday night.
Police have confirmed there are 22 victims and many more injured after a suicide bomber struck in the aftermath of Ariana Grande's gig at the Manchester Arena.
On today's ITV breakfast show, dad-of-one Amir told presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid he was worried about division between religions as a result.
He said: "I'm a Muslim - I'm a little bit scared myself walking the streets with my little girl because I know anything can happen.
"I go to the mosques and walk the streets of Manchester, I'm sure people know that."
"I know people are pointing the finger at Muslims but are we really sure they are Muslims?
"This is something that is really against our religion.
"If these people are saying that they are doing it because of Islam I really believe that's not true.
"They are twisting Islam and making it worse for everybody.
Amir - dad to little girl Lamaisah, two, - added he was worried about her future amid a potential backlash towards Muslims.
He said: "It worries me for my little girl and what people are saying to her and pointing the finger, saying 'you're a Muslim'.

Earlier in the ITV show, Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder described his narrow escape as he opted to stay at home instead of go to Ariana's gig with his family.
Reality star Shaun had originally planned to take his daughters to see the pop star’s sell-out show.
An emotional Shaun said: "We should have gone.
"We had tickets to Little Mix and that (Ariana Grande) was the next outing as a family.
"They (his kids) thought they were going to meet Ariana but it was such a beautiful day and a great night that we didn't end up going."
