Coronation Street’s Bill Roache reveals he enjoyed making his co-stars ‘angry’ during Ken Barlow whodunnit
The soap stalwart is hoping for a happier storyline after Ken's stroke and stair fall trauma
CORONATION Street star Bill Roache enjoyed riling his co-stars while filming the Ken Barlow whodunnit.
The soap legend's character was savagely attacked and left for dead after a member of his family pushed him down the stairs in his own home.
It was recently revealed that the culprit was in fact Ken's son Daniel Osbourne, but before that came to light every relation was a suspect, which led to plenty of friction in the Barlow family.
Speaking to The Sun at the Rainbows Celebrity Charity Gala on Friday night, Bill, 85, said: "It's been interesting because it's been different. I've been getting up everybody's nose making them angry with me. I've quite enjoyed that really.
When asked if he was due a more upbeat storyline following the attack and the stroke Ken suffered before Christmas, he replied: "I think so. I think I've earned it. Maybe a comedy one."
The actor was in fine spirits on the night, wearing a traditional suit with a white flower pinned on his lapel.
He even posed for a picture with Sinitta, 53, who looked great in a plunging blue gown.
In upcoming Corrie scenes Ken will demand that all the evidence of Daniel’s attack be destroyed so he walks free.
But in order to do this he shares the secret with his family, pointing out that not a single one of them is blameless about what happened.
Ken demands they all keep quiet, leaving them shocked.
Viewers recently watched as Adam Barlow was arrested for the attempted murder after Ken remembered seeing his trainers walking away from him as he lay injured in the house.
But in a dramatic twist, Adam merely found his grandfather unconscious and left him to his fate after Daniel’s attack.
