Katy Perry delivers defiant message of love as she takes to Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester stage

KATY Perry gave an empowering speech about love as she took to the stage of Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester benefit concert.

The pop star gave a defiant message of love conquering hate as she sang as part of the star studded concert raising funds for those affected by the May 22 Mancherster Arena terrorist bombing.

";I am humbled to be here tonight to share and spread love," Katy said as she took to the stage.

"Thank you Ariana so much for your incredible strength and courage and for inviting me to participate this evening," she continued.

The star then said fans should always choose love over hate - even in difficult circumstance.

"It’s not easy to always choose love, is it? Especially in moments like these. It can be the most difficult thing to do," she said.

"But love conquers fear, and love conquers hate. And this love that you choose, will give you strength and it’s our greatest power," she said - to huge cheers from the audience.

Katy the encouraged the audience and those watching at home to declare their love to everyone they were with.

"Now as you stand here, all of you here, and all of you watching from wherever you are, standing next to a stranger or a family member ,or a friend or a loved one, let’s just do this little exercise in love," she began.

"Just touch the next person. Touch the person next you. Make human contact. Tell them I love you! Look in there eyes! Say I love you! Do it!" she ordered.

Katy then performed two of her biggest hits - Part of Me and Roar.

"I encourage you to choose love even when it is difficult. Don’t let anyone take that away from you!" she said as she launched into the first of the two songs.
