Maria tweeted: "Four years ago to this week I was in hospital after attempting to take my own life, if it wasn't for the hospital staff I would either not be here or be living with lifelong health side effects.

"Four years on and I have a beautiful daughter, happy life and free from depression, anxiety and living in a relationship with somebody who took enjoyment out of this.

"So what I'm trying to say is no matter how dark your days are or how little hope you have that there will be a brighter future, it should never be the end."

She added: "If I knew what my future had in store, maybe my actions that week would have been different.

"There is always hope and a way to a better life.

";And I thank the @Samaritans for being there to listen when I felt I had nobody."

Maria's devoted fans were quick to send messages of support. One follower said: "You're very brave to express what you went through! Top girl."

Another told Maria: "You are a inspiration to others! As a Mental Health Worker, this is why I love my job, changing people's lives! You have come so far."

Earlier this year, Maria exclusively told The Sun Online how she lost her post-baby weight.

The former Towie star wanted to lose her “mum tum” after giving birth to her first baby, a daughter called Evie, last September.

During her pregnancy Maria put on 3st – taking her weight up to 11st 7lbs – but after overhauling her diet and lifestyle, she’s feeling back to her best.

Maria, 30, told The Sun Online: “I had more muffin tops than Mr Kipling!

“I was eating for two when I was pregnant but now I’m back to my pre-baby weight and feel sexier than ever.”

Maria got back into shape with the help of daily power walks – which allowed her to exercise at the same time as bonding with little Evie.
