The four part mini series concludes on BBC One TONIGHT, Tuesday, August 1 at 9pm.
Way back in November 2015 the BBC announced it had commissioned In The Dark for BBC One - to be written by Bafta winning screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst and fans have been waiting eagerly ever since.
Part 1 (consisting of episodes 1 & 2) is directed by Gilles Bannier (whose credits include The Tunnel) and Part 2 (comprising episodes 3 & 4) is directed by Ulrik Imtiaz Rolfsen (whose credits include Taxi, and Varg Veum).
The fourth episode goes head-to-head with Is It Safe to Be Gay in the UK on BBC Two, Midsomer Murders on ITV and Old People's Home for 4 Year Olds on Channel 4.
What is the BBC's drama series In The Dark about?
Adapted from books by bestselling novelist Mark Billingham, In the Dark sees detective Helen Weeks face two of her toughest cases - while also preparing to become a mother.
The first case Helen is faced with takes her back to her childhood home when a friend from her past is involved in an abduction.
Meanwhile the second difficult case Helen deals with sees her forced to question her closest relationships when "a brutal tragedy drags her into Manchester’s dark criminal underbelly".
Who is in the cast of In The Dark on BBC One?
Twilight and Ripper Street star MyAnna Buring plays the lead role of Helen Weeks in the four part mini series.
Meanwhile Shameless actor Ben Batt play's Helen's fellow Detective Inspector and professional partner Paul Hopwood.
Other familiar faced among the cast include singer and Top Boy actor Ashley Walters and Vera actor David Leon.
