What time is Catching a Killer: The Wind in the Willows Murder on Channel 4?

The true crime doc is on Channel 4 TONIGHT,  Monday July 10, from 9-10.25pm.

It's up against Supermarket Secrets on BBC One, Wimbledon and Ripper Street on BBC Two, Fearless on ITV, Love Island on ITV2 and Eamonn & Ruth on Channel 5.

The series is gripping, with unprecedented access to the police as they investigate murders and search for missing people.

It will be repeated on other channels later in the week and will also be available to catch up on 4od.

What is  about?

The documentary follows the Thames Valley Police Major Crime unit, led by Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, as they investigate a brutal murder.

42-year-old Adrian Greenwood, an antique dealer from Oxford, was found dead in his home after being stabbed 16 times in a horrific and brutal attack.

One detective tells the cameras: “It’s like an episode of Morse: an antique dealer in Oxford found murdered. Everything about it is just like fiction.”

But this is a true story, and the details of the murder are absolutely shocking.

Greenwood was the subject of a sustained and savage attack, and his body also shows signs of having been tortured in his final moments.

The investigators go through his belongings in the search of clues as they look into who killed the antiques dealer, who was well known for his extremely valuable collections of art and books.

These include a £50,000 first edition of The Wind in the Willows, which is missing from his home.

What really happened to murder victim Adrian Greenwood?

If you want to remain in suspense until you watch the documentary, stop reading now.

Adrian Greenwood was murdered by 51-year-old Michael Danaher, who was jailed for life with a minimum of 34 years after a jury took less than 2 hours to unanimously find him guilty.

Danaher stabbed his victim 16 times, and had tortured his victim, though he insisted he had only killed Greenwood out of self-defence.

The court was told Danaher even stopped outside Greenwood's house and took a selfie after the brutal killing.

After murdering Greenwood, Danaher stole his first edition copy of The Wind in the Willows, which was worth £50,000, and put it on eBay for the knockdown price of £2,000.

He was £13,000 in debt and had researched wealthy celebs and TV personalities including Kate Moss, Eamonn Holmes and Simon Cowell to make a list of rich targets. His research even extended to valuables, weapons and family members of his planned victims.

The prosecution said: "It takes a certain sort of person to have done what the defendant did to Adrian Greenwood.

"Cool, calculated, controlled, before, during and after. And underpinning it all? Greed. It was money he was after."
